Michael D Metcalf, Founder and CEO
Michael is a visionary leader having pioneered the telecom
industry for over twenty years and has been an industry
leader in speech recognition for more than eight years.
Mr. Metcalf is also the founder and Chairman of Sound
Advantage LLC, makers of the award winning SANDi™
technology. During the past three years, Sound Advantage has
garnered more consecutive awards for speech recognition
technology than any other company in US history.
Michael is a seasoned executive and an accomplished
technologist who leads the charge at SpeechPhone by faith
and personal example. Michael also serves as a member of the
board of Coastland Community College & University - a
non-denominational Christian Bible College.
David L. Thomson, Chief Technology Officer
As one of the country's preeminent experts in speech processing technologies
and applications, David provides visionary leadership for the technical
evolution of SpeechPhone's products.
Prior to joining SpeechPhone, David served as CTO of Lucent Speech
Solutions, and technical director of the text-to-speech development group.
David was also Lucent's representative on the VoiceXML Forum Board of
Directors, and is Chairman of the VoiceXML Tools Committee. After his role
at Lucent, David became Vice President of Distributed Speech Solutions at
Fonix Corporation.
Hung Duong, Head of Software Development
Hung leads the software development team. He brings to the
team over 17 years of experience in carrier class system
architecture and computer telephony applications. Hung
worked for Sound Advantage before joining SpeechPhone, where
he was responsible for the overall architecture of the
SANDi™ system.
An experienced software development manager, Hung previously
provided technical leadership at Palomar Products, Fujitsu
Communication Systems, Rockwell International and Hughes
Aircraft.
Paul Laos, Head of Operations
Paul joins SpeechPhone with more than 20 years of operations
management experience in the telecommunications industry. In
his role as Head of Operations, Paul is responsible for the
smooth running of SpeechPhone's logistical and financial
operations, including customer billing and customer support.
Previously Paul has held a number of Senior Management roles
including VP Finance at Winstar Communications, and Senior
Manager, Regional Local Service at MCI.
Tracy Roberts, Head of Marketing and Strategic Planning
Tracy brings over 18 years of business experience in product
management, product marketing and user experience design, to
the SpeechPhone management team. Prior to joining, Tracy
served as Head of Marketing for Loquendo - A Telecom Italia
company, which developed speech recognition solutions for
the Enterprise and Carrier markets.
A seasoned leader, Tracy was Senior Director of Product
Management at AltaVista managing the altavista.com site.
She also worked in their international division launching
internet search sites in Asia. Prior to that, Tracy worked
for Northern Telecom for 12 years, both in the US and
Canada, holding a variety of business leadership roles.
